Meet Ellis – our brand-new CFO

The successful candidate in our search for a new CFO has been announced – with seven-year-old Ellis from Locks Heath appointed as our official Chief Fun Officer.

He was chosen to try out the wealth of retailers and experiences at the centre in the run-up to Christmas, bringing a child’s perspective to just how fun they are.

His application stood out for his enthusiasm for the role and his fun-loving nature. His father Mark discussed his pride in seeing Ellis overcoming challenges that came with his achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism, noting the excitement he would have in being able to take on the role and put the centre to the test.

Ellis spent a full day at the centre, testing out the diverse range of activities available. From the excitement of toy testing at The Entertainer to the thrill of learning new maths skills, his day got off to a great start.

After looking at all the interesting books in Waterstones and climbing high at Rock Up, he had a well-needed lunch at Frankie & Benny’s with his family.

As part of his experience, Ellis also received a bag of toys from The Entertainer and lots of books from Waterstones.

Sharing his views on just how much fun the centre is for younger visitors, Ellis said: “I had the best day ever at Whiteley – I didn’t want it to end!

“My favourite thing was climbing at Rock Up, and I loved toy testing at The Entertainer – I even got to take toys home!

“Lunch at Frankie & Benny’s was delicious, and I got to be with my family the entire day which was even better. I can’t wait to come back again!”
